Arming Meditation

Requires understanding of the elemental principles outlined here: A System

The creation of the Sith Sword is achieved through the integration of the Elements - forged as any real sword.

Like the fictional Sith, whose weapons were with them at all times, this morning meditation assists in mentally arming yourself with the daily knowledge of what you are and the Path you walk.

Relax completely into Beginning Stance so that you are both open and heavy.

[Practitioners who find this difficult can try a simple technique to help them in this: try saying to yourself, "my right arm is heavy", and feel it respond, getting it heavier. Then say, "My left arm is heavy", and feel it do the same. Say, "Both my arms are heavy". Feel your weight center. Repeat for shoulders, fingers, legs, any area of the body you're having difficulty with. Once weighted, say, "my right arm feels open", and feel the joints open easily and freely.]

Breathe abdominally. Let your body be heavy and an open vessel for your Self.

When ready, change your breathing so that you breathe only through the mouth and assume the Fire Mudra. Say either to yourself or out loud, "Shining Fire".

Fire represents the forge in which your Sith Sword began to take shape. It represents the passion you bring to the Path, the unique expression of you as a Sith, all of your feelings. Let them rise inside you now, positive or negative, dark or light, filling the belly and activating manipura.

Let its energy grow within you, burning and hot until your entire energy body feels suffused in the warm glow of your own passion.

And then shift your hands into the Earth Mudra with the words, "Quiet Earth".

Become aware of your stance, tall and strong. The black, deep earth is the rock and stone from which your precious ore was extracted. To be a Sith is to make a decision to be strong, to be proud, to set your own rules, and to bear the weight of those decisions. Feel that strength within you, borrowed from the dark Earth in which you were buried, brought forward to stand as a wolf among sheep. Let it activate muladhara, your rooted connection to the ground.

Let its energy center and balance you as you find your stance between the world of the elite and the world of the others.

When you are ready, change your breathing so that you now breathe only through the nose, and adopt the Air Mudra, saying, "Flowing Air".

Having delved into the Darkness, the ore is brought into the Light to be examined and known. How strong is your ore? Will it forge a sword of legends, or will it break with the hammer's first blow? Air seeks power through perfect knowledge of the capabilities of the Self. Wherever you are in your Path, take this moment to scrutinize exactly where you are strong and where you are weak. Let the knowledge of yourself empower you, gathering at ajna, activating it.

Let there be no secrets between your Selves. Feel the invincibility of true honesty; the flexibility and flowing nature of the person who knows their own limits and can bring the fight to their arena.

Once reconciled with your Self, bring your hands into the Water Mudra, saying "Running Water", and changing your breathing so that you breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.

You may stand alone in your decisions to stand among the Sith, but Water reconnects us to the Spirit of all things, our connection to the world, and our place within it. Sink your energy into the chest, the rhythm of your heartbeat like an ocean tide, over and over reminding you of Life, the freedom of it, the passion of it, the expression of it. And our connection with others is what comes to define us - our interaction with the world, submersion in the water is what comes to give the Sword its final shape. Let yourself connect to the Spirit, the Force, whatever you perceive it to be. Feel the knowledge of it fill your chest, awakening anahata.

However you experience awareness and knowledge of the Force, let it come to you.

And when you are ready, assume the final Mudra, and change your breathing so that you breathe in through the mouth and out through the nose.

Affirm to yourself, "My Steel and I forge this day".

You have forged yourself from Fire, Earth, Air and Water; you have built yourself, perhaps destroyed yourself and rebuilt, perhaps countless times. You know power, you know victory, and you know freedom. Let the energies assembled so far rise within you until the powerful, victorious energy of bindu awakens and joins them.

The Sith Sword at this point is fully awakened.

Now lift your arms over your head, palms facing one another, and maintaining the distance between them, draw them down to rest before bindu, saying to yourself, "Victory".

Repeat the motion, bringing them to rest at ajna, saying, "Power".

[You may experience energy gathering between the palms; in that case, each time you pause, view the energy centers as points of immediate download, taking in the energy and using it to become more powerful.]

As you descend down the body, let that heavy feeling suffuse again. The weight of carrying the Sith Sword should not be felt lightly.

Repeat at anahata, saying "Freedom".

At manipura, saying "Passion".

And finally at muladhara, saying "Strength".

[If there are areas you now you are weak in within the Elements, you can use this to affirm any words as necessary. For example, in the previous example of a person suffering from shame, you might substitute "pride" for "strength" when you reach muladhara.]

Relax back into the Beginning Posture. Feel again heavy and open, and the presence of a powerful creature dwelling within that open space.

Breathe abdominally until you are settled and grounded, breathing easily again. At this point I add, "I move relentlessly forward, forging my place in the family of things." Any affirmation for the day would be appropriate here.

When you are ready to end the meditation, move carefully until you are certain you are back firmly in "this" world.

Go forward, knowing who and what you are.
