Self-Analysis

At some point in time, it becomes necessary to clear away all of the nice-to-know information and get down to the heart of the matter. This is such a time. It makes no difference what your background is, where you went to college, how much you earn, what job title you have, or even how old you are. What matters most is that we are all members of a certain species that share certain things in common. The human species of today has very similar needs, wants, problems, and desires that create the circumstances in our lives. In order for us to use the power of self-discipline to bring our desires into reality, we must learn more about ourselves.

When was the last time you took a hard look at yourself and thought about why you go to work every morning? Have you ever thought about why you dress the way you do or why you work in the field of industry that you do? Why do you feel depressed or stressed out? When was the last time you analyzed your words, thoughts, and actions to determine why you behave or think a certain way? All of these problems point to your basic wants and problems.

Finding your Path

The first step to mastering discipline is a basic and simple one, but for most people it is the hardest to pin down. The first step is to determine what it is we want in life or to become. I am not saying that you need to determine that you want to be an astronaut or any other type of professional. Rather, we need to dig through our brain and come up with a general idea of the way we want things to be. All of this information is in there waiting to be discovered.

Every day we think, see, dream, and desire things in life. The problem is we are unable to consciously focus and organize our efforts toward attaining them. The first and most crucial step to bringing discipline into our lives is accomplished by determining exactly what we want in our short existence. In today’s world, there are so many experts and therapists telling us to get in touch with our feelings and to just let things happen that people get even more confused about what actions to take. The truth of the matter is that you do not need to repeat a special chant or pay thousands of dollars for a therapist to find clarity in your life. By discovering what your goals in life are and focusing your time and energy toward them, your life takes on clarity and purpose.
